This quilt is making me think.......

This quilt is causing me to do more thinking than I usually do. I find quilting the Community Quilts very relaxing. This one has some challenges. First those squares are doubled so 4 layers of flannel in each seam. Then they were sewn across each with a machine embroidery serpentine stitch. Now they're sandwiched together with batting and a soft flannel for the backing. Oh yes, the borders are only 1 layer so they have to be "eased in". The batting they gave me has been seamed together (you can see it in the picture) but "off grain". I can't complain since someone else took lots of time to try to put the top together with whatever they had. It's only costing me thread and time and it does look like it just might turn out. They said to use the extra backing for binding but that's not going to happen. Okay, now I'm smiling. It's working. I'm getting relaxed.
