Kailyn & Kalissa wanted to go down to the beach and play in the sand. Once they were there they discovered a pool of water left by the high tide. They were just going to get their feet wet. When they got back home they got hosed down and a bath. They had a great time. A lot of sand stuck to their bodies doesn't bother them.

Surf's Up
A storm from the Figi Islands brought some big waves our way. The tide was so high, it left a shallow pool for the kids to play in. You could feel the vibrations on the wooden pier. No one was trying to fish today, just looking. Hueneme is used to waves, just not big waves. It didn't bother the birds or the brown pelicans.

The fish
I've added some fish on the left. If you left click your mouse, you'll give them some food. It's rather fun and involves no thinking.

This quilt is making me think.......
This quilt is causing me to do more thinking than I usually do. I find quilting the Community Quilts very relaxing. This one has some challenges. First those squares are doubled so 4 layers of flannel in each seam. Then they were sewn across each with a machine embroidery serpentine stitch. Now they're sandwiched together with batting and a soft flannel for the backing. Oh yes, the borders are only 1 layer so they have to be "eased in". The batting they gave me has been seamed together (you can see it in the picture) but "off grain". I can't complain since someone else took lots of time to try to put the top together with whatever they had. It's only costing me thread and time and it does look like it just might turn out. They said to use the extra backing for binding but that's not going to happen. Okay, now I'm smiling. It's working. I'm getting relaxed.

Isn't this a friendly quilt?
What Bill's been doing
No, he hasn't taken up quilting. He has been working on my quilting setup to make it work easier. The following pictures show what he's done. This is a quilt I'm working on for our Guild's Community quilts for kids. A Guild member pieced all these batik squares and I'm quilting it with flowers and leaves. It's so bright and happy. Some child is going to love it. Using the PC Quilter (robotic) is making it easy to go through the seams and fabric.
Bill's been busy adjusting my quilting setup. He added the heavy springs to the front of the sides to balance the added length that he'd added before. The marks let me see where I've raised to and the levels on the top allow me to raise the back level to the front. The tape measure that's attached to the outside is from the "old days" and is stuck too well to come off. The lifts are from Kathy Bowers with some adjustments for my frame.
